Applesauce Yogurt Snack Recipe

I wanted a snack—but something different. So I started with something familiar to me and added a little something new. What I ended up with really hit the spot for me, so I thought I’d share.

I generally don’t like using ingredients with added sugar, preferring to sweeten my snacks with liquid Stevia instead. The kind I use includes vanilla flavoring, and I really like how the vanilla flavor adds to this snack. I used 10 drops of liquid Stevia for this recipe, but how much sweetening of what kind you and others will want to use is bound to vary widely depending on taste.

Applesauce Yogurt Snack

1/2 cup whole milk plain Greek yogurt
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 heaping tsp unsweetened flaked coconut
1 rounded tsp ground flax seed
1 level tsp chia seed
Your preferred sweetening (to taste)
Vanilla (to taste)
Sprinkle of Cinnamon

Mix well all ingredients except the cinnamon. Let the mixture sit for a bit to soften up the chia seeds and coconut flakes—how long you do this for is a matter of personal preference, but if you plan to let it sit very long, maybe stick it in the fridge. I’ve often made this recipe without the applesauce and cinnamon, and I typically don’t let the mixture sit more than a minute, if that, but I like a bit of crunch, and I’m not very patient.

Makes roughly one cup, which I usually have as a single serving, but if you’re not that hungry, this could make two or more servings. Sprinkle cinnamon on top before serving.

You might need to change some things to suit your palate, of course. Stevia can be an acquired taste. Whatever sweetening you use, if any, you might want to only add a little at a time until you find the perfect amount for your taste. Same goes for the vanilla, if you add it.

If you try this recipe or something inspired by it, I’d love to hear how it goes for you. If comments are closed on this post, feel free to hit me up on Twitter or Facebook. Cheers!
