So, I’ve stopped trying at this point to seek representation for my novel, The Dreams of Unborn Gods. Feedback I’ve received from beta readers and editors has led me to believe I’ve included too much backstory. Some beta readers suggested I write a separate book for what I’ve presented as backstory in Dreams. All right, I’m taking their advice. Dreams is now on hold while I write Shadows in Darkness, a prequel to Dreams. I have an outline and the first 8,000 words written. The title is only a working title for now, and the illustration here is only a promotional image, not an actual book cover, though I reserve the right to change my mind about that.
I’ve considered self-publishing Dreams anyway, but have decided to hold off on it until I see where Shadows goes. If Dreams were self-published now, I suspect that would ruin any chances of Shadows being picked up by a traditional publisher. So I’ll exercise patience, and trust all my adoring fans to do the same. 🙂
