I’ve been on a bit of an electroclash kick lately, and I stumbled upon the album By Any Means Necessary by BAMN!. Bands are allowed to tag themselves however they want, but so far BAMN!’s music reminds me of progressive rock mixed heavily with synthesizers and Internet-age jokes.

To be fair, the songs with lyrics do indeed sound a lot more electroclash/New Wave than the ones without. BAMN! aren’t liars; they are just experimenting with different sounds.

If you need all the songs on an album to match each other, then I firmly believe you aren’t a good listener. Rather, one can listen to whatever one pleases, but By Any Means Necessary might be perceived as providing too much variety. Continue reading →
