At #11 is the highest ranking duo in my countdown, the act who recorded my #2 most played album of the past four years. At the time of this writing, they have the most underwhelming official web site, that gives tour dates but no information about who they are, where they are located, or what sort of music they play. And maybe that is okay, because they also have Facebook and MySpace pages with bio info and the like. Maybe it’s better to have a simple official web site that’s easily updated than a complicated web site that easily falls out of date like so many other “official” web sites out there. After all, it’s about the music, not the web site, eh. Continue reading
Pop Then and Pop Now: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Dance Floor
Lately, I’ve noticed that a fair number of pop artists have significantly changed their styles over the last decade and a half. I will document this for you with a barrage of videos that demonstrate just what I’m talking about. Continue reading
Indie Artist Spotlight: The Atolls

They describe themselves as garage rock, but The Atolls are much more than that. Continue reading
My Top 110 Music Artists, #12
At #12 is my personal favorite music group act of all time, even if they only rank as #12 on my Last.fm charts for the past four years. I’ve been listening to this group since the 70s. This group was my #3 most played music act of 2010, and I’ve blogged about them before as being my most favorite music group of all time.
This group became very popular starting in the mid-70s. Over 35 years later they still tour and have lots of fans, of which I’m one. Continue reading
My Top 110 Music Artists, #13
At #13 is my favorite former American Idol contestant, though she did not even make it into the top 20 on the show. No American Idol contestant from any season has a more beautiful voice than this young lady, and it’s a shame that she was sick the night of her top 24 performance. America did not hear that night what this artist is really capable of. Continue reading
My Top 110 Music Artists, #14
At #14 is the female vocalist who recorded my #5 most played album of the past four years. Most people don’t know about her. She’s released one studio album, while two of her songs are included on the Fantastic Four movie soundtrack, and one song on the Elektra soundtrack. She recorded one version of her debut album, but then came out with another version of it that is now for sale on Amazon and iTunes. It’s the second version of the album that contains my favorite track by this artist, which happens to be my overall #10 most played track of the past four years. Continue reading
My Top 110 Music Artists, #15
At #15 is a young lady known more for her acting than her singing, and whose biggest hit in the US was from the soundtrack of the movie I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. My very first scrobble on Last.fm was my favorite track from this artist. Continue reading
My Top 110 Music Artists, #16
At #16 is my third most played American Idol contestant, and my second most played AI contestant from season five. She has released two studio albums that ranked on the Billboard Top 200 and one holiday album. Her sales have not been as impressive as those of some AI contestants, but she does have her staunch followers, and I like to think I’m one of them, even if I haven’t bought her holiday album yet. Continue reading
My Top 110 Music Artists, #17
At #17 is the highest ranking male solo artist and the highest ranking country artist on this countdown, and the artist for 5 of my top 500 albums. Sadly, this artist passed away in 2002 from complications with diabetes, after having his left foot amputated due to an infection caused by the illness. But his legacy lives on, and a tribute album by a collaboration of various well-known country artists was just released this year to honor his contributions to country music. Continue reading
The Lonely Island VS Weird Al Yankovic
For the last several decades listeners have always had Weird Al Yankovic parodying popular hits with moderate success. A couple years ago, The Lonely Island hit the scene not with full-blown song parodies, but comedic songs that used some parody. Continue reading
